When you choose to be brutally honest, most often you end up leading an honest life. And an honest life is a dull one. It’s devoid of the risky outcomes created by carefully crafted lies. If you know you’d never be able to successfully sustain a lie, there’s no point in trying to create one. Thus, you tell the truth either because you have no choice or because you hope that it will bring you good. It might not.
