When you choose to be brutally honest, most often you end up leading an honest life. And an honest life is a dull one. It’s devoid of the risky outcomes created by carefully crafted lies. If you know you’d never be able to successfully sustain a lie, there’s no point in trying to create one. Thus, you tell the truth either because you have no choice or because you hope that it will bring you good. It might not. There are no guarantees in life… except that if you don’t stay true to yourself, you’re going to end up miserable.
