Daily Prompt: Letters Back and Forth

Write a letter to your 14-year-old self. Tomorrow, write a letter to yourself in 20 years.

Dear Rinth,

I’m writing from the future, when I’m 23 years old. Yes, sending objects through time is possible now. It is very expensive though, so I hope you understand how important this letter is.

I understand that there are many things you’re unhappy with right now. Trust me when I say things are about to get much worse. Depressing, I know, but if you act now there’s a good possibility you can change the future; my present.

There are many things about to happen which you never thought would happen in your life, and you’ll take decisions you never thought you would take. You will regret them and they will haunt you for a long… long time.

The way these things are going to be possible is through seeming positive in the beginning. Don’t trust those “intuitions”. Don’t trust anyone easily. Everybody lies.

Focus on reading books and writing. Don’t choose law for your future studies. Choose a writing program or English literature. Absolutely under no circumstances should you move out of Stockholm. This is very important.

Learn how to sing.

That’s it. Follow these guidelines and rest assured that you’ve done everything in your power to be content with life. To find happiness.

Oh and don’t worry about your looks… it gets better with time :).

With love,

Rinth
